عند الحديث عن “الإلحاد الجديد” تُدرَج مجموعة من الكتّاب وكتبهم ضمن تسمية موحّدة، وأشهر هؤلاء: ريتشارد دوكينز، وكتابه وهم الإله(2006)  The God Delusion، ودانيل دينيت، وكتابه إبطال السحر: الدين كظاهرة طبيعيةBreaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon (2006) ، وسام هاريس، وكتابه نهاية الإيمان: الدين والإرهاب ومستقبل العقل The End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason (2004)، وكريستوفر هيتشنز صاحب كتاب: الله ليس عظيمًا: الدين يسمّم كلّ الأشياء God Is Not Great: Religion Poisons Everything (2007).  ويتضمّن هذا المقال، فضلًا عن التعريف ببعض الأفكار المطروحة في الكتب المذكورة، وكيفية تلقّي “الإلحاد الجديد” في الخطاب العام، نقدًا لمصطلاح “الإلحاد الجديد”.

The most prominent “neo-atheistic” authors, and their books, are: Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion; Daniel Dennett, Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon; Sam Harris, The End of Faith, Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason; Christopher Hitchens, God is Not Great: Religion Poisons Everything. This article introduces some of the ideas as laid out in the abovementioned books, examines how “New Atheism” has been characterized in the public discourse, and offers criticism of the term “New Atheism”.
