تشرح هذه المقالة رأي معظم علماء الكلام الشيعة والمعتزلة في صحّة قاعدة اللطف. فبعد المقدّمة، يعرض الكاتب أولًا مفهوم هذه القاعدة، وبيان دليلين على صحّتها، وعلاقتها بأصل التمكين. ثمّ يلجأ بعد ذلك إلى نقد هذه القاعدة بالأدّلة العقليّة عبر نقد الدليلين المقدّمين سابقًا.

ويفرد قسمًا للبحث في ثمرات قاعدة اللطف، مثل: وجوب بعثة الأنبياء، ولزوم عصمتهم، وضرورة الوعد والوعيد، وحُسن الآلام الابتدائية، وضرورة الإمامة، وضرورة ولاية الفقيه، وحجية الإجماع.

This article examines the position of most Shiite and Muʿtazilite theologians regarding the validity of the principle of marvel (luṭf). Following the introduction, the author presents the concept of this principle, two arguments in support of its validity, and its relation to the principle of empowerment (tamkīn). Then, he follows with a rational critique of the principle, undermining the validity of the two aforementioned arguments.

The article also devotes a section to examining the fruits of the principle of grace: the necessity of prophetic missions and their infallibility; the inevitability of divine promise and threat, the goodness of initial suffering, the necessity of Imamate, the legitimacy of Wilayat al-Faqih “the guardianship of the jurist”, as well as the binding nature of consensus.
